Clare Hunt shines in Tottenham Women draw v Liverpool Women

Clare Hunt made a big impression as Tottenham Women drew 2-2 with Liverpool Women.

Ahead of their Barclays Women’s Super League clash with the Reds at St Helens Stadium on Sunday (27 April), Robert Vilahamn’s side suffered a 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa Women at Brisbane Road (20 April).

This defeat, the North London club’s 11th in the WSL this season, marked Spurs’ seventh loss in their last eight matches in all competitions, with the Lilywhites without a win since January.

Therefore, while they didn’t claim all three points on Merseyside, Vilahamn would have been delighted by his side’s much-improved display against Liverpool, with Hunt in particular shining for her manager.

Hunt scores for Tottenham v Liverpool

Spurs were handed a Charlotte Grant injury boost ahead of the clash with Liverpool.

However, the Australian was forced to settle for a place on the bench, and it was her fellow countrywoman, Hunt, who made an impact for Tottenham.

Starting at centre-back, Hunt got on the scoresheet to put Tottenham 2-1 ahead in the 31st minute, and while Vilahamn’s side were unable to hold on for all three points, the 26-year-old would have been pleased with her overall display.

As per Sofascore, Hunt won 100 per cent of her duels, both on the ground and in the air, and made four clearances against Liverpool.

In addition, the defender blocked one shot, made one interception and one tackle, while also completing 82 per cent of her passes and playing five accurate long balls.

Hunt will be key for Vilahamn & Tottenham

With just two games to go, Spurs will be looking to end a disappointing WSL season on a positive note.

And it appears Hunt will be crucial if the Lilywhites are to achieve that goal.
