Winners and losers from Xavi Simons transfer to Tottenham include Richarlison

Xavi Simons is set to arrive at Tottenham this summer in a move that could cause greater upsets than intended.

Tottenham accelerated Simons’ transfer this week after missing out on Eberechi Eze to Arsenal.

With the paperwork signed and the Dutchman close to arriving in North London, this is considered a huge win for the Spurs hierarchy. However, not everyone will be jumping for joy as Tottenham News assesses the winners and losers from his transfer.

Winners from Xavi Simons’ transfer

Richarlison

Richarlison has made a fantastic start in the Premier League after a mediocre 2024/25 season.

It was even suggested that Richarlison could leave Spurs by the end of the summer. But he seems to have turned things right around, having netted twice for Tottenham against Burnley in the Premier League.

But without a number 10 behind him, there were concerns over whether he would be able to sustain this output. However, Simons solves more problems than he creates where Richarlison is concerned.

With a high-volume creator behind him, Richarlison could reach heights higher than anyone has seen him in a Spurs shirt this season.

Daniel Levy

There is probably no one who will benefit more from Simons’ arrival than Daniel Levy, who has faced his fair share of backlash this summer.

After Morgan Gibbs-White extended his contract with Nottingham Forest and Eberechi Eze signed for Arsenal, Tottenham fans have been unconvinced by the chairman.

But with one of the most talented players of his generation set to sign at the North London club, Levy is on the path to redemption.

Losers from Xavi Simons’ transfer

Yves Bissouma

Yves Bissouma was set to sign for Galatasaray this summer, but that no longer seems to be the case.

With one year left on his Tottenham contract, the North London club will hope to find a solution for him before deadline day. But if they cannot, he is unlikely to play for Spurs again if Simons arrives in North London.

As a result, the defensive midfielder may need to accelerate his efforts to sign for a different club this summer.

James Maddison

James Maddison sustained an ACL injury against Newcastle United this month, which is arguably the reason Simons has been signed.

As a result, if the Dutchman arrives in North London and proves himself on the pitch, it could be difficult for Maddison to reclaim his starting spot.

Not to mention that it is difficult to predict how his injury will heal. As such, the biggest loser in this scenario could be Maddison.
