Tottenham’s chances of signing Scott McTominay come clear as talks underway

Tottenham had been linked with a move to sign Scott McTominay.

From now until the end of May, Tottenham need to fix the issues on the pitch and worry less about the things happening off of it.

However, once their Premier League status is confirmed, there are some huge decisions to be made, not only over the future of Igor Tudor, but also in regard to the business needed.

Spurs need to inject plenty of fresh quality into their side next season if they are to avoid another relegation battle.

And on that note, McTominay had been identified as a potential target, with chances of a deal now looking clear.

Napoli make intentions clear with Scott McTominay

Ever since he left Man United, McTominay has often been regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world, and based on his form in Italy, it’s hard to disagree.

The Scotsman registered 17 goal contributions in 36 appearances for Napoli last season, and is on course to beat that in the current campaign with 13 from 34 appearances.

However, that form has led to a lot of interest back in the Premier League, including from Tottenham.

But a report from Fichajes states that Napoli are in talks to offer him an improved deal to stay until 2030, as well as offering him a higher wage.

It mentions that the midfielder has not ruled out an exit, but that looks rather unlikely to happen anytime soon, given the success he has found in Italy.

McTominay would solve one of Tottenham’s biggest issues

Goals have been a major concern for Spurs this season, and that is the frist task that Tudor has in charge of the side.

However, Tottenham also lack any real progressive nature in midfield, especially with James Maddison injured.

They have several solid options, but none who can drive forward with the ball like someone like McTominay or even Adam Wharton, who has also been linked with a move to North London.

While both of those deals seem unlikely, that is the type of profile that needs to be targeted in the summer if progression is to be achieved.
