Tottenham v Liverpool: Postecoglou loses mind with ‘world-class’ Salah comments
Tottenham host Liverpool in the EFL Cup on Thursday evening and it appears that Ange Postecoglou has lost his mind based on his comments on Mohamed Salah.
Spurs host the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final on 8 January with Postecoglou under growing pressure to keep his job at Tottenham.
It has been a dismal season under his stewardship so far and there is every chance he will need a win against Liverpool to alleviate some of the pressure, much of which is down to his own doing and his recent comments have added more fuel to the fire.
Postecoglou loves an excuse, but his most recent one with the focus on Salah is perhaps his best yet and it is an absolutely ludicrous comment to make.
Via BBC Sport [7 January], the Spurs boss said: “Mo [Salah] is a world-class player, but if you put him in our team now I’m not sure he’ll have that same level of performance because of the situation we’re in as a group.”
Really? Salah has 31 goal contributions in league competition alone this season and Postecoglou doesn’t think he’d have the same impact for Tottenham? Wow.
Tottenham need to perform against Liverpool
While achieving a result will not be an easy task given the relentless opposition, an improvement must be seen in the performance after what was a dismal start to the year against Newcastle.
Unfortunately, that has been the case for the large part of the season with Postecoglou’s stubbornness costing his side on far too many occasions.

If that stubbornness prevails again, Tottenham could very well be in for a cricket score against the league leaders and it won’t be a pretty sight for home supporters.
As players start to come back from injury, there may be a hope that Postecoglou can turn things around with several avenues of success still available although things will need to change, and fast.
In other Tottenham news, one Spurs target has been told he is allowed to leave his current club.
