Tottenham staff member’s comments perfectly sum up mess at Hotspur Way, they have to act

A Tottenham youth scout has been criticised after joking he did not want to touch the club’s badge.

Arsenal supporter Neros Coachman recently took on a role in Spurs’ academy, but has irritated supporters after questionable comments about his allegiance to the Gunners.

His social media posts have not been well received by the hierarchy at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and according to the Daily Mail, they could decide to take further action.

Either way, the incident encapsulates the mess at Hotspur Way, with a lack of accountability on and off the pitch proving that the rot has set in much further than anticipated.

What did Neros Coachman say about Spurs and Arsenal?

Coachman first posted a photo of himself wearing a Tottenham tracksuit next to the club’s ‘To Dare Is To Do’ motto, seemingly at the training ground.

He declared he was looking forward to bringing in a new set of superstars, before adding: “You know the project’s good when you’re a boyhood Arsenal fan, and you switch sides.”

One commenter joked that he shouldn’t let the badge touch his skin, to which Coachman replied: “I’ve already got the base layer.”

Another user posted a picture of a snake, with the Spurs scout writing: “I know, it’s deserved.”

Unsurprisingly, his posts were quickly spotted by Spurs supporters, many of whom have taken to social media to voice their anger.

While Coachman maintained that the remarks were made in jest, they were, at the very least, poorly timed.

Tottenham simply have to lay down the law

As a result, Tottenham must deal with the matter in-house – and quickly.

Making light of the rivalry between the two Premier League heavyweights would ordinarily be allowed to slide, but with Spurs grappling with relegation, Coachman should have known better.

Matchgoers have every right to be furious.

Their players are not performing, coaches have not got to grips with the sheer size of the task, and the hierarchy has failed to convince anyone of their long-term vision.

The picture is certainly bleak, no matter which angle you look at it, but Spurs being ‘deeply unimpressed’ is not enough.

They must set the example now to have any hope of earning back trust.
