Tottenham must go all out for one transfer after another crushing update on Rodrigo Bentancur

Thomas Frank may have to dip into the transfer market quickly after yet more injury issues in his Tottenham squad.

Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison have both missed the entirety of this season with knee injuries, leaving Spurs lacking creativity.

Dominic Solanke did return from a spell on the sidelines as Frank’s side were knocked out of the FA Cup against Aston Villa, coming off the bench during the 2-1 loss on Saturday.

However, Mohammed Kudus is out until April after picking up a thigh injury, and now Rodrigo Bentancur is also set to miss months after undergoing surgery.

Rodrigo Bentancur out for three months

Bentancur hobbled off in the latter stages of Tottenham’s 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth last Wednesday, and Frank’s worst fears have now been confirmed.

The Uruguayan midfielder has suffered a serious hamstring injury and will need surgery to correct the issue.

Tottenham will be without Bentancur for at least three months, with his earliest return date being the middle of April.

However, the lay-off could be even longer, and with the World Cup fast approaching, the 28-year-old will not want to take any risks.

If Bentancur is not going to return until next season, then Spurs must move immediately in the transfer market to secure a replacement.

Tottenham must act on Conor Gallagher interest

Tottenham have had a long-term interest in Conor Gallagher, and they are reportedly now stepping up their pursuit of the former Chelsea midfielder.

Gallagher moved to Atletico Madrid from Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2024, but just 18 months later, he is eyeing a return to the Premier League.

The 25-year-old has started just four La Liga games for Diego Simeone’s side this season, and could be allowed to leave this month if the right offer comes in.

Spurs will be battling the likes of Aston Villa for Gallagher’s signature, with the Midlands outfit also holding a strong interest in the England international.

However, with Bentancur set for a spell in the treatment room and Frank struggling for midfield options, Tottenham must do everything they can to bring in the Atletico Madrid man.
