Tottenham fans will be furious with controversial Europa League final update

Tottenham achieved their aims, beating Bodo/Glimt 2-0 on Thursday to breeze through to the Europa League final 5-1 on aggregate.

It has been a difficult season in North London with plenty of discontent both on and off the pitch at Tottenham as supporters have cried out for more success.

Although it wouldn’t solve every problem, if Tottenham could overcome Manchester United in the Europa League final and get their hands on some silverware, it would certainly give supporters something to smile about after a torrid campaign.

Tottenham receiving Europa League final ticketing blow

Although Spurs may have preferred to be facing Athletic Bilbao in the final of the Europa League, an all-English final reflects well on the country and makes for interesting viewing.

With both teams far off the top five in the Premier League, whoever wins the tie will secure a place in the Champions League for next season, which will be crucial in the immediate direction of both sides.

Both sides have been underwhelming this season.

With that in mind, both sets of supporters will be eager to get themselves out to Bilbao and push their team over the line in what will be a massive final.

The two sides are well-supported teams and in a stadium that holds 49,600, that should make for a final with a rocking atmosphere.

However, UEFA have had other ideas when it comes to the distribution of tickets, which will leave Tottenham and Manchester United fans fuming.

Winter has reported via X (8 May) that despite the ground’s capacity, of the 41,000 tickets that will be available to the fans and general public, only 15,000 will go to each club in the final.

The remaining 11,000 are to be put on general sale for neutral supporters to purchase and some are already on resale websites, priced at £5000.

For two sides that could easily take more, this serves as another reminder that supporters aren’t thought about by those higher up the chain.

Tottenham let down by those higher up

Postecoglou knows that his job could well rest on victory in the Europa League final and therefore, this is a tie that he will be putting everything into.

Luckily for his players, having had to play a semi-final at Bodo/Glimt with an allocation of just over 400 tickets for away fans, they will be well equipped for the final.

Nevertheless, in a game that means so much, supporters have every right to be annoyed with those higher up in the game who clearly do not care about the actual supporters who want to back their team.

It’s not too surprising, but still disappointing.
