Thomas Frank to be delighted as Daniel Levy confirms seismic Tottenham departure

Daniel Levy has shocked world football by confirming his departure from Tottenham on Thursday.

The Spurs chairman has called time on his immediate involvement with the N17 outfit after 25 years at the helm, which has transformed them both on and off the pitch.

Levy has turned Spurs into a commercial superpower and oversaw the investment in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which is now arguably their most prized asset.

However, despite all the good things that the outgoing chief has done, Thomas Frank will surely be buzzing with the news deep down.

Thomas Frank has blank canvas after Daniel Levy exit

Levy has backed Frank and Tottenham heavily in the transfer market this summer, and there has been little sign of this decision coming over the last few months.

There can be no doubting that it will have a seismic impact on the Lilywhites from top to bottom, and there is nobody that suits better than Frank at this moment in time.

The new boss had already had a taste of the frustration that Levy has dealt to so many managers before him with the failed pursuits of Eberechi Eze and Bryan Mbeumo this summer, and he will surely be delighted by the news that the 63-year-old is packing his bags.

Frank is now left with something of a blank canvas in North London. He has a new squad at his disposal, and crucially, there should be so much more scope to make significant moves in the transfer market without Levy being around to drag his heels.

He has always had a reputation as a meticulous negotiator, and that has often worked to his detriment with deals that require urgency and decisiveness.

The Lilywhites could now implement a totally new approach across the club, as they aim to drift away from the same old failures that have plagued them over the years.

Frank has made a bright start in his new role, and with a clean slate now sat in front of him, he must surely be hugely excited by the potential prospect of helping to mould the entire club into its new era.

The timing of Daniel Levy’s Tottenham exit is bizarre

It must have taken a substantial period of time for Levy to have made a decision of this magnitude, and with that in mind, it is certainly fair to say that the timing of his announcement is somewhat strange.

He made the call to sack Ange Postecoglou after much deliberation at the start of the summer, and if this move was always in his thoughts, then that could have been the perfect time for him to step away.

Levy could have ended his time in charge with a trophy and allowed the rest of the hierarchy to deal with the summer’s business, given that it will be their responsibility moving forward.

Instead, he has left a situation where Spurs are moving into a new era, but his fingerprints remain all over almost all of their recent decisions.

Only time will tell whether his exit will have a positive or negative effect in N17, but for now at least, it is a situation that appears to suit Frank perfectly.
