Son Heung-min could ‘get Ange Postecoglou sacked’ within days at Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou has found himself under heaps of pressure at Tottenham this season, having had a dismal campaign.

Regardless of earlier injury issues, with Spurs sitting 14th in the table, patience is running out with Postecoglou.

A 3-1 win against Southampton on Sunday gave fans something to smile about for once, but with a Europa League tie against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday, the pressure is back on.

Son Heung-min to spell disaster for Postecoglou

There has been plenty of debate at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season over who is to blame for Spurs’ poor form, but Postecoglou has to take most of the responsibility.

What is quite alarming is that experienced players who have proven their abilities to perform to high standards, including the likes of Son Heung-min and James Maddison, have often been well below par.

Son’s recent form.

Son may be 32-years-old now, but he has still shown glimpses of the talent he continues to possess in a Lilywhites shirt so far this term.

However, the boss has shown signs that he too is becoming fed up with Son’s performances, which was reflected when he brought him off after 57 minutes against Southampton for Wilson Odobert.

It will be interesting to see how the Australian lines his team up for the Europa League quarter-final, a game that could be vital to his job, having rested players like Son.

Postecoglou on thin ice at Tottenham

We have seen plenty of Premier League football clubs where captains have had a part to play in the exit of a manager, and the situation at Spurs could well be heading down the same route.

Postecoglou is walking a tightrope anyway, and there are suggestions that even if he were to guide Spurs to a Europa League trophy win this season, it would not be enough to save his future.

Therefore, if Daniel Levy sees that players like Son are starting to become frustrated with the manager too, it could be the tipping point that pushes the chief to make a decision.

It’s unlikely anything will happen until the fate of the Europa League is known, with two crucial games coming up for the North London outfit.

Should Son be given the role to fire his side past Frankfurt, two anonymous performances from his captain could spell the end of Postecoglou within days.

However, if Levy is going to make a call to change who is at the helm at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, then he has to be prepared to do so sooner rather than later.
