Postecoglou ‘will be sacked in days’ – Three things learned in Wolves loss

Tottenham fell to yet another embarrassing league defeat on Sunday afternoon, with Wolves making a mockery of them.

Rayan Ait-Nouri gave the hosts the lead inside two minutes, with an own goal from Djed Spence doubling Wolves’ advantage.

Mathys Tel was able to pull one back for Spurs, as was Richarlison, but it proved to be nothing but a pair of consolation goals, with Tottenham falling to a 4-2 league defeat.

Tottenham News highlights the three things that were learned from the clash.

Dominic Solanke is not what Tottenham need

Dominic Solanke was the marquee signing of the summer for Tottenham, but his performances under Ange Postecoglou have left a lot to be desired.

It was no different for the Englishman against Wolves, with him completely ineffective and unable to get into the game for the large part.

If Spurs are to find a way to progress next season, the signing of a new number nine has to be a serious priority, which could in turn allow Solanke to leave the club and find a club that suits his way of playing.

Ait-Nouri signing must be pursued this summer

If there was one man who took today’s game by the scruff of its neck, it was Rayan Ait-Nouri, who was outstanding over the course of the 90 minutes.

Having already been linked with a move to Tottenham, it is evident that it is a signing that Spurs need to pursue, especially with Destiny Uodie failing to set the world alight with his own performances.

Whether it was a telling factor or not, Ait-Nouri didn’t celebrate his goal that gave Wolves the lead, while providing both assists for the other two goals, though he will only be credited with one, given it went down as a Spence own goal.

His ability to get up and down the left flank is frightening, and if he is to leave Wolves this summer, he would be a remarkable pickup for any side.

Postecoglou is edging closer to Tottenham sack

Tottenham fell to their 17th league defeat this afternoon, which is nothing short of an embarrassment for a club the size of Spurs.

Injuries have played their part, but Postecoglou’s inability to lead a team forward has surely all but sealed his sack after the defeat.

The Australian keeps finding excuses to defend what has been a horrendous season, though he will be fortunate to find anything credible to defend the performance of his side at Molineux.

Spurs still have a chance of success via the Europa League, but even if they win the competition, Postecoglou should not be afforded another season in charge, and could be sacked in a few days if they fail to progress past Frankfurt.
