Postecoglou ‘must be embarrassed’ as Tottenham claim made after legends game

Ange Postecoglou has several important issues to address as Tottenham endure one of their worst seasons.

Spurs are 14th in the Premier League, and it doesn’t look like they will be able to finish in the top half of the table.

Postecoglou must be wary of Daniel Levy’s trigger-happy demeanour, and it’s surprising to see the Australian manager last as long as he has.

The North London outfit’s performances have been so bad that comparisons are now being made with the Tottenham Legends team that beat AC Milan Glorie on Sunday (23 March).

Tottenham Legends better than current Spurs squad

Jermain Defoe, Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane were all on the pitch as Tottenham Legends beat AC Milan Glorie 6-2 in N17.

Keane scored a hat-trick for the home side, with Defoe, Sandro and Michael Brown also getting on the scoresheet.

Postecoglou’s record at Tottenham this season in all competitions.

Adrea Pirlo scored a mesmerising free-kick from 25 yards out, showcasing the talent these legends still possess.

Postecoglou won’t be happy with comparisons being made to his current squad, though, highlighting the lack of quality the Australian manager has at his disposal.

Spurs Legends to beat Postecoglou’s current squad

The Europa League is Postecoglou’s only hope of redeeming the current campaign at Tottenham.

Spurs have been abysmal in the Premier League, and the players haven’t warranted anything other than a 14th-place finish.

While the Australian manager has been hampered by injuries this season, that can’t be an excuse for them to be worse than the likes of Crystal Palace, Brentford and Bournemouth in the English top flight.

With the football on display from Spurs’ legends on Sunday, Rahman Osman claimed they could beat the current squad at Postecoglou’s disposal.

The journalist wrote on X (23 March): “I think the Spurs legend team could beat the current Premier League squad. The quality of football they’re playing is simply breathtaking. Lennon and Defoe are both still looking sharp. Oh, and Berbatov.”

Tottenham lost 2-0 to Fulham at Craven Cottage on 16 March before the start of the international break.

Marco Silva handed Spurs their 15th Premier League defeat of the season, leaving Postecoglou with nowhere to hide.

Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie and Dominic Solanke have all returned from their fitness issues, but there still isn’t any discernible change in the North London outfit’s performances.

Levy didn’t help Postecoglou in the winter transfer window and was reluctant to spend money, which has evidently contributed to the current crisis at Tottenham.

The Australian manager must be embarrassed to hear suggestions that the Spurs legends are better than the current squad, which will only put more pressure on him.
