Postecoglou given fresh headache as Tottenham player ‘out until June’
Tottenham Hotspur’s injury list has not let up for Ange Postecoglou this season in what has been a horror past few months.
Despite several key players returning, Postecoglou has been unable to instil any real rhythm or threat back into a side relying on winning their first trophy in 17 years to paper over the cracks.
Spurs fans have had enough all around, with the entire season and the head coach’s future hinging on winning the Europa League.
While some injuries have affected the team more than others, every absentee gives Postecoglou another matter to consider, including the latest update.

Bryan Gil injury timescale revealed
It was revealed earlier this week that Girona’s on-loan Tottenham star Bryan Gil would require surgery after damaging his meniscus and lateral knee ligament.
According to Spanish outlet Huelva’s print edition [22 March, page 41], it is now understood Gil will be absent until at least June and his season and consequent loan spell is now finished.
Gil has not played in a Spurs shirt since last season, with a trio of loans back in his homeland providing him with competitive football.
However, this latest setback means he will now unlikely get a chance to impress in pre-season either, even if Postecoglou did want to take a closer look at him.
Tottenham teammate Cristian Romero was among those to send public well-wishes to Gil following the news of his injury, with a heartfelt message of support to the Spaniard.
Girona maintain an option to buy Gil in the summer with just a year remaining on the 24-year-old’s contract at Spurs, which is highly unlikely to be extended – though the Catalan club may reconsider their stance depending on his rehabilitation progress.

Tottenham can shop in much bigger market with Europa League win
Tottenham are fully aware that they will only be able to significantly strengthen their squad if they qualify for Europe next season.
The only realistic way now of achieving that is to win the Europa League, which would open up a qualification slot for the Champions League. It’s the top table or nothing.
In the last eight alongside clubs such as Manchester United, Lazio and Athletic Club (Bilbao), it will not be an easy ride – especially considering the pedigree of quarter-final opponents Eintracht Frankfurt, who went all the way in 2022.

Appearances on loan (Valencia, Sevilla, Girona) | 73 |
Regardless of Spurs’ regression, Gil is unlikely to become an important player for the Lilywhites next season all of a sudden, though stranger things have happened.
But to get hold of the players Tottenham fans really want, there is only one way to take that step – win that European trophy.
