Postecoglou ‘drops major Tottenham exit hint’ in heartfelt message to supporters
Ange Postecoglou appears to have waved goodbye to Tottenham after his pre-match message to supporters ahead of the clash with Brighton.
Postecoglou ended Tottenham’s 17-year trophy drought by guiding the North London club to a 1-0 victory against Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final at the Estadio de San Mamés on Wednesday (21 May)
As a result, under ordinary circumstances, talk over the 59-year-old’s future would seem ridiculous after such an achievement.
However, Postecoglou has overseen the worst-ever Premier League campaign at Spurs, with the Lilywhites guaranteed to finish on their lowest-ever points tally regardless of the result against Brighton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (25 May).
Therefore, despite lifting a trophy in North London, speculation over Postecoglou’s future continues to swirl, with a Daniel Levy statement seemingly suggesting that the Australian’s days at Tottenham are numbered.
And Postecoglou himself now seems to have dropped a big hint that he is on his way out of Tottenham.

Postecoglou addresses Tottenham fans in matchday programme
Postecoglou had been defiant in his belief that Spurs would achieve something special this season, always believing he had the right components to succeed.
The Australian was proved right as Tottenham won their first trophy since 2008, prompting him to be very complimentary in a statement in the matchday programme for the clash with Brighton on Sunday.
Premier League | MP | W | D | L | Pts |
17. Tottenham | 37 | 11 | 5 | 21 | 38 |
The Australian said [via Football London, 25 May], “I’ve often spoken about my pride in this group of players and staff, especially during testing times – of which there have been plenty this season.
“I didn’t think it was possible, however, my love and admiration for them has grown in recent weeks with their drive and commitment to achieve the success that everyone wanted. Their reward is playing in next year’s Champions League, and that is something they fully deserve.”
Postecoglou could walk away from Tottenham
Perhaps tellingly, Postecoglou seems to distance himself from the players and staff, suggesting that ‘they’ deserve to play in the Champions League, rather than using the word ‘we’.
With the stress and scrutiny that Postecoglou has endured in his two-year tenure, it would not be outlandish to suggest that he may walk away on his own accord, rather than wait for the club to make a decision.
Alternatively, perhaps he already knows what the future holds for him, as Levy might have communicated his decision ahead of the Brighton clash.
