Lucas Bergvall needs to have a word after Swedish politician’s brutal Tottenham put-down

Lucas Bergvall needs to reach out and resolve comments made in Swedish parliament.

The midfielder has played a regular part, when fit, in the frustrating times at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this campaign.

Thomas Frank has recently been sacked, and now attention has turned towards Igor Tudor in the hope that he can turn things around.

The ex-Juventus man has work on his hands to deal with the “Spursy” tag that has crept back in for the North London club, despite their Europa League triumph last season.

That has bizarrely been brought up in Swedish parliament, something which Bergvall needs to question away from N17.

Tottenham used as bad example in Swedish parliament

There is no hiding from just how bad this campaign has been for the Lilywhites, especially after high expectations followed that night in Bilbao.

With Frank in charge, there were high hopes of playing exciting, high-tempo, attacking football that would push Spurs onwards and upwards.

That wasn’t the case, and with the North Londoners now sitting 16th in the Premier League, it is no surprise that people are poking fun at them.

With that being said, no one would expect Tottenham to come under fire in Swedish parliament and be used as a bad example of how to run the country.

Social Democratic MP Mikael Damberg has told the Riksdag all about the Lilywhites and suggested that his country can’t afford to run like Spurs have recently.

He said: “I naturally think of Tottenham Hotspur, also known as Spurs. They are one of England’s most distinguished clubs, a rich club with an enormous stadium and a dedicated and large supporter base. Everything to be considered a ‘top team’.

Despite this, Tottenham find themselves in crisis. They are fighting at the bottom of the table, just a few points from the relegation zone. Not because they lack resources. Not because they lack benefits.

But because they have squandered their opportunities due to making wrong decisions, general jerkness and thinking in the short term, they have lost their direction and stability.

The club has even been given the name, ‘Spursy’, when you have opportunities but get no results. Madame Speaker, that is precisely how the Minister of Finance is handling the Swedish economy. Sweden has the power, ability and resources. We have the companies, workforce and innovation capabilities.

Due to a lack of long-term thinking and misplaced priorities, the government risks making Sweden ‘Spursy’. That won’t do. Sweden can’t perform like Tottenham.

Lucas Bergvall must reach out to Mikael Damberg after “Spursy” comment

This ultimately has nothing to do with the 20-year-old, but with it being in his homeland, he is bound to be affected by the comments.

Bergvall is highly rated by the North London faithful and won’t want that relationship to be impacted by comments made in Sweden against Spurs.

The midfielder would be best placed to reach out and make his feelings known to Damberg, who may not want to upset one of his country’s best footballing talents.

The politician may not go that way and could die on his sword, and who could blame him?

Tottenham have been “Spursy” this season and seriously need things to change, and it says a lot that they are being used as a negative example of how to run a business.
