Kevin Danso horribly fails to read the room with social media post amid Tottenham woes

Tottenham defender Kevin Danso has been criticised by supporters after sharing a tone-deaf social media post despite the club’s woes.

Danso attended the glittering premiere of the new Peaky Blinders film, titled “The Immortal Man”, at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall on Monday night.

The defender was suited and booted for the occasion and shared a series of photos of himself posing on the red carpet, alongside the caption: “Absolute pleasure watching @peakyblinders, Immortal Man last night. Had to show up kitted for the occasion.”

It appeared he had been gifted the ticket by Netflix, but not everyone was pleased.

Indeed, Danso has been accused of failing to read the room with Spurs battling relegation.

Kevin Danso should really have known better

Worryingly, the 27-year-old is one of the more experienced members of a youthful Tottenham dressing room.

Despite making 24 appearances in total at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season, he has largely watched on from the bench during Spurs’ drift toward the bottom three.

Either way, matchgoers weren’t happy with his evening on the tiles.

“We are 16th, mate,” read one Instagram comment, while another user joked that Danso was dressed to the nines to “prep for our away day at Birmingham next season”.

These half-joking posts set the tone, with one supporter adding: “We’re going down, Kev.”

Clearly, they have a point. It’s nothing short of outrageous that Spurs are even contemplating the prospect of dropping into the Championship, and players have to be more savvy online.

While Danso’s upload was not quite as garish as one of Spurs’ Arsenal-supporting youth scouts taking swipes at his employer, he must lead the way, both on and off the pitch.

Does Danso have a future at Tottenham?

Tottenham signed Danso from Lens for £21.5million in February 2025, and he has been largely solid when called upon, despite playing second fiddle to Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.

But according to a report from Fanatik, the centre-back is a target for Besiktas next summer.

The Turkish outfit are plotting an overhaul of their backline at the end of the season, and Danso is said to have been identified as an ideal replacement for Emmanuel Agbadou.

It has also been claimed that contact has already been made with the Austrian, but Spurs would be wise to stave off interest, regardless of whether they stay in the Premier League.
