Joe Lewis to get on the phone to Ange Postecoglou after Thomas Frank sack latest at Tottenham

Thomas Frank is surely facing the sack after Tottenham’s defeat to West Ham.

Frank was already under huge pressure at Spurs ahead of Saturday’s London derby clash with West Ham, as his side entered the game with one win from their previous seven in all competitions.

You can make that eight now too, as West Ham ran out 2-1 winners over Tottenham on Saturday, as boos rang round the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at full-time.

Crysencio Summerville gave the visitors the lead after just 15 minutes, before Cristian Romero equalised with 25 minutes to play.

However, a controversial added time winner from Callum Wilson handed the Hammers all three points, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side now 10 points behind Tottenham in 18th.

Thomas Frank surely won’t survive West Ham embarrassment

Tim Sherwood believes Frank will now be sacked following the loss to West Ham, and there won’t be too many out there who disagree with him.

It’s a huge shame too, as Frank‘s appointment back in June last year was met with genuine excitement and optimism from a lot of Spurs fans given what he’d achieved with Brentford.

The Dane had taken the Bees from a mid-table Championship team all the way to being on the fringes of European football in the Premier League in just a few years.

He’d built a reputation for being a brilliant coach when it comes to the tactical aspect of the game, whilst also proving he could work with one of the top flight’s smallest budgets and still find top-class players.

Unfortunately, we’ve just not seen much of that during his first seven months in charge of Tottenham, and losing at home to West Ham given their current situation is unacceptable.

Tottenham should swallow Ange Postecoglou pride and make the call

Given Tottenham’s current predicament, should Frank indeed be sacked following the West Ham loss, then there may not be a huge queue of coaches lining up for the vacancy.

And, as poor as Tottenham’s 17th-placed finish was last season, Ange Postecoglou did bring long-awaited silverware to the club with their Europa League win.

When you compare Ange and Frank’s Tottenham records too, it paints an even better picture on the job he was doing.

As per Sofascore, Ange was averaged 1.52 points per game during his Tottenham tenure, whilst Frank is currently averaging a mere 1.28.

Therefore, it’s fair to say that Tottenham could do a lot worse than bringing Ange back, and he is no doubt still loved by large sections of the fanbase too who would surely be prepared to back him once more.

So, if Joe Lewis does sack Frank, then Ange should be his first port of call.
