Daniel Levy ‘to seal statement signing’ for Tottenham after £25m development

Tottenham will be well aware of the need to recruit smartly in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Given the shortcomings Tottenham have showcased domestically this season, it is imperative that they get decisions right in the summer window.

Tottenham are in need of an injection of quality in several departments if they are to find a way to progress on the pitch.

Planning will have already started in that regard, though their chances of securing new arrivals may hinge on whether or not they can win the Europa League and secure European football for the new campaign.

If that is achieved, then one signing in particular would make far too much sense for Spurs to ignore.

Tottenham linked with move for Lyon starlet

Tottenham’s main focus for now will be on the pitch, though it won’t be long until their full attention is turned to the transfer window.

With that in mind, Spurs have already been linked with a move for Lyon’s Rayan Cherki [TBR], who has emerged as one of the brightest prospects in European football this season.

Cherki has enjoyed a fruitful campaign in Ligue 1 with Lyon.

His signing would be a statement one if sealed, and with Lyon said to be holding out for just £25million, it is a deal that Spurs need to go all out for.

At just 21 years old, Cherki has years of development ahead of him, and based on his showings in France this season, he would already be a huge upgrade on those available to Ange Postecoglou currently.

Cherki would be an excellent start to Tottenham summer business

Regardless of the success they can find in the Europa League, Tottenham are miles away from having the quality required to compete at the top end of the Premier League.

That needs to be addressed in the summer, and the addition of Cherki would go a long way towards achieving that, though more will be needed.

Levy simply needs to showcase his ambition for Spurs and ensure that they are provided with the necessary tools to progress on the pitch.
