Bryan Gil and £64m flop – Daniel Levy’s worst five Tottenham signings after exit confirmed
Daniel Levy has shocked Tottenham by leaving his role as executive chairman.
Levy revealed that he would depart Tottenham on 4 September, stepping down from a role that he has held for 25 years.
Levy was a controversial figure at Tottenham, with fans blaming him for a lack of spending in the transfer market, and his negotiations hampered Thomas Frank this summer.
However, when he did spend, it did not always go to plan, as Tottenham News looks at his worst ever signings for Spurs.

Bryan Gil
Bryan Gil has just left Tottenham in an £8.6million deal after a miserable four years in North London.
The 24-year-old joined Spurs in 2021 for £21.6m, but he struggled to force his way into the squad under several managers.
He ultimately made 43 appearances for the club, failing to score and notching two assists, pitiful numbers for a winger.
He spent time at Sevilla, Valencia and Girona on loan before joining the latter permanently on deadline day.
Hossam Ghaly
Hossam Ghlay arrived at Tottenham in 2006, but failed to make the desired impression with the N17 outfit after a £2million move from Feyenoord.
The Egyptian international made 34 appearances, notching three goals and five assists, but his performance is not what he is remembered for.
His antics after being substituted against Blackburn Rovers are the main talking point when it comes to his Spurs career.
As he left the field, he threw his shirt to the ground, which led to disciplinary procedures and an apology from the player.
He did not feature for the Lilywhites after that incident.
Grzegorz Rasiak
Grzegorz Rasiak signed for Spurs in 2005, in a £3million deal, which ended up being a waste of money.
The Poland international played just nine times for the club, failing to notch a single goal or assist.
He struggled to earn first-team opportunities at White Hart Lane but did not impress when he did get on the pitch.
- Rasiak joined Southampton on loan and was then sold to the Saints
- He later played for Bolton Wanderers, Watford and Reading
- Ended his career back in Poland with Warta Poznan in 2014
Roberto Soldado
Roberto Soldado joined Tottenham in a £26million deal, which broke their transfer record at the time.
The Valencia-born striker made 76 appearances for the Lilywhites, but only scored 16 goals and notched 11 assists in his time at the club.
He was brought in to help Spurs win trophies, but he could hardly find the net, never mind inspire the team to the glory that they desired so badly.
Tanguy Ndombele
Tanguy Ndombele was Spurs’ record signing when he arrived from Lyon in a £55.45m deal, with the potential for an extra £9m in add-ons.
However, his career in North London was full of potential rather than actual performances, as he left much to be desired.

He notched 10 goals and nine assists in 91 matches for Spurs, and spent three seasons away from N17 on loan.
Neither Lyon, Napoli nor Galatasaray chose to exercise the permanent option in those loan deals, and his contract with the Lilywhites was terminated by mutual consent last summer.
