Brennan Johnson flops, 8/10 MOTM – Tottenham player ratings v Bodo/Glimt
Ange Postecoglou has taken Tottenham to the Europa League final after beating Bodo/Glimt 2-0 on Thursday.
It was not the easiest of games away from home for Spurs, but they got the job done emphatically.
Dominic Solanke eventually broke the deadlock in the 64th minute, taking the pressure off his side going into the rest of the half.
Pedro Porro then put the game to bed just five minutes later, scoring the goal to see his side through to the Europa League final.
The hosts thought they had a penalty in the dying moments of the game, but VAR deemed Porro had won the ball, overturning the decision.

Tottenham need to up standards to save Postecoglou
The main thing for Tottenham is that they got the job done, and progressing to the Europa League final keeps Postecoglou in his job for the time being.
However, it was not the best performance from many of the Tottenham squad, who were somewhat underwhelming against a side they should be performing much better against.
Team | Possession | Shots | Shots on target |
Bodo/Glimt | 69% | 5 | 2 |
Tottenham | 31% | 6 | 3 |
The defensive line put in solid defensive displays, with Romero and Van de Ven showing what Spurs have been missing for much of the season so far, although the overall performance was fairly static and flat, knowing they had the job done early.
While supporters were expressing concerns over the inclusion of Richarlison on the evening, it was Johnson who certainly didn’t reach the best standards.
With just 16 touches in the game, none of which were in the opposition box, and a zero per cent accuracy for crosses and long balls into the box [FotMob], there was little that he offered.
Solanke being the man to win the most duels and lose the most duels in the game, perhaps summed up the performance of his side on the evening, although having scored the first goal of the evening lets him off somewhat.
Gaining a place in the final allows the Lilywhites to possibly bring silverware back to North London, which is exactly what Postecoglou’s side were hoping to achieve on the evening.
However, Postecoglou’s job is still hanging in the balance and he will need his players to up their standards significantly in the final if there is any chance of him extending a stay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
