Ange Postecoglou ‘set to stay at Tottenham’ in manager exit twist
Ange Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham has been the talk of the town for months, but in a recent twist, he could be set to stay.
For Postecoglou, and most associated with Tottenham, much of the current season has been defined by his future at the club, or lack thereof.
The North London club have had their worst-ever Premier League season under Postecoglou and will likely finish 17th after suffering their 21st defeat to Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Even in the event of a Europa League final victory, Tottenham’s league campaign would be enough to see Postecoglou out the door; however, a recent twist could see the Australian continue, regardless.

Postecoglou wants to stay at Tottenham
Tottenham will compete in a European final for the sixth time on Wednesday (21 May) when they take on Manchester United at the Estadio de San Mamés.
The confrontation allows Postecoglou to claim silverware at the end of a tough season and secure a spot in next season’s Champions League.

The 59-year-old will be without James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Bergvall for the final, and after an injury-ridden season, for some, making it to Bilbao is considered victory enough.
Postecoglou appeared to express something along the same lines in his final press conference before the final against United.
Speaking via Football London (20 May), when questioned about his future, he said: “I don’t think my job is done here. I think a trophy would accelerate that, and I think there’s a lot still to be done.
“The challenges we’ve had are well chronicled, but I think there’s been some growth in there.”
But to an extent, his words have left many conflicted, because when, even with the injury struggles, did a potential 17th place Premier League finish constitute as “growth.”

Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham is a near-impossible decision to make
While it seems Daniel Levy has made his decision on the future of Postecoglou, few would envy his position if Tottenham triumph against United in the final.
What would you say to a man who has just delivered your club its first major trophy in 17 years?
On the surface, a Europa League final defeat may be easier for Levy, but once you dig a little deeper, you will find that there is not much gold to catch when entering the manager market.
The euphoria of delivering a trophy to Spurs when they have gone without for years will certainly have the players and supporters rallying around Postecoglou, which could force the scales to tip in his favour.
However, even if this long-awaited dream becomes a reality, and the Australian does continue into the next season, a voice, no matter how small, will be tapping on the skulls of some Spurs supporters wondering whether they deserve more.
