Ange Postecoglou looks set to cost Tottenham £35m+, no wonder he was sacked

Former Tottenham star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is linked with a £52.64million move to Juventus, just months after joining Marseille.

The former Spurs midfielder was sent out on loan to the French club last season, with the move becoming permanent for £17m in the summer.

His departure came as little surprise, with Hojbjerg struggling at Tottenham under Ange Postecoglou.

Yet, in France, the Danish international has shone, with Marseille currently competing for the Ligue 1 title this season.

As a result, clubs have now come sniffing around the midfielder, showcasing Postecoglou’s terrible ability to get the best out of Hojbjerg.

Marseille want £52.64m for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

According to TGCOM24, Juventus are currently tracking Hojbjerg as a potential purchase.

The Italian giants want a new midfielder but may struggle to sign the Dane.

Marseille are set to demand around £52.64m for Hojbjerg, meaning if he is sold for this price, the French team will make a quick £35m+ profit.

However, while this is potentially great news for the Ligue 1 outfit, it showcases how poor Postecoglou was at getting the best out of his players at Spurs.

There is clearly a good player in Hojbjerg, and this is being showcased on a regular in France.

Yet, the Australian was unable to achieve this, meaning Spurs have now potentially missed out on over £35m from a potential sale of the Dane.

Given this, it is no wonder that Postecoglou was sacked in the summer.

Ange Postecoglou could soon return to the Premier League

Recent months have no been kind to Postecoglou.

The manager was quickly sacked by Nottingham Forest after a horrendous start, with his reputation now in tatters.

However, the Australian could soon find himself back in the Premier League, with Postecoglou linked with the Fulham job.

There is ongoing speculation about Marco Silva’s future at the Cottagers, and now, Postecoglou is the second-favourite to take over according to the bookies.
