Tottenham Hotspur will sack Ange Postecoglou before he gets a chance to see out their "project", Jason Cundy has said.

Speaking on talkSPORT (23 December, 10:24pm), Cundy and a Spurs fan went back and forth over the job Postecoglou is doing in North London, following their 6-3 demolition at home by Liverpool on 22 December.

The Australian's side sit 11th in the Premier League table following an eighth defeat from just 17 games, yet the Lilywhites fan was a firm believer that Postecoglou would "see the project out" at Spurs.

Cundy hit straight back, saying: "He'll get sacked... what are you basing this on?"

Ange Postecoglou surely walking the tightrope at Tottenham

The Postecoglou project in North London continues to go through more peaks and troughs than many Spurs fans have the stomach for this season, with the 59-year-old's future becoming unclear.

The Lilywhites' 6-3 mauling by the Premier League leaders produced the very best and worst of Postecoglou, with an already-makeshift backline left exposed time and time again.

It remains to be seen whether the Australian can turn things around with the likes of Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Guglielmo Vicario still out, but his stubbornness isn't helping the cause.

Fraser Forster – who'd already had a big enough shocker against Manchester United the game prior – is clearly in need of more protection at the back, but Postecoglou's style doesn't really allow for that.

Daniel Levy has a decision to make with Spurs' erratic form threatening to spiral further, but few fans will have faith in their chairman making the right decision to improve upon 'Angeball' long-term.
