Xavi Simons’ agent makes big Thomas Frank admission as Tottenham discussions revealed

Xavi Simons’ agent has lifted the lid on internal discussions at Tottenham after a bright start to the new season.

The Lilywhites are flying high in the early-season Premier League table, having been beaten just once in their first four league outings of the new campaign.

Simons is already making a big impression at Tottenham following his £52million move from RB Leipzig in the latter stages of the summer transfer window, and he has started in each of the last two games for his new side.

Thomas Frank appears to have helped the Dutchman settle in well in North London, and Simons’ agent has now shed some light on the situation surrounding his client in the last few weeks.

Xavi Simons agent reveals Thomas Frank key to Tottenham transfer

Tottenham moved quickly to hijack Simons’ move to Chelsea in the summer, as they were able to win the race for the midfielder and tie him down to a bumper contract in N17.

The 22-year-old became their second £50million-plus buy of the summer after Mohammed Kudus, and that duo are both already showing signs of becoming stars within the Lilywhites’ ranks.

However, the situation surrounding the move for Simons in the summer could easily have been very different, had Spurs not acted with such decisiveness and persuasion.

The former PSG star’s agent Ali Barat has now revealed that a conversation held with Frank played a key role in his client’s decision to join Tottenham, rather than heading across London to one of their most bitter rivals.

“With Xavi, the key was to clearly understand his priorities and to ensure that the club he joined shared his long-term vision,” Barat told RMC Sport.

“Chelsea were always clear with us; they had certain constraints that made the progress of the discussions difficult.

“So when the discussions with Tottenham began, it became clear that this would be a project that would suit Xavi perfectly, and I think that the discussion he had with Frank was really key to Xavi’s decision.”

Xavi Simons signing will be huge for Spurs long-term

Simons already looks like an impressive capture for Spurs, and when you consider that they have him for the next seven years in theory, then it just keeps getting better for them.

The youngster has already proven that he is capable of being a threat in the Premier League within his first few appearances in a Tottenham shirt, and he will only get better as he continues to adapt to English football.

Frank is now blessed with a wealth of quality attacking options at his disposal, and that will be invaluable as he bids to turn his new team into one that can compete in every competition.

The Dane has already received plenty of praise for his early work at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and the Simons deal looks like another positive event that should be attributed to him.
