‘Without a shadow of a doubt’ – Ex-Spurs Scout predicts Tottenham XI v Luton Town

Tottenham News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent six years as a senior scout at Spurs and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent eight years on Everton’s recruitment team and 11 years scouting at Aston Villa across two different spells.

Tottenham will travel to Kenilworth Road to take on Luton Town in the Premier League on Saturday 7 October where Ange Postecoglou’s side will have the opportunity to leapfrog Manchester City into first place.

Spurs are currently riding a wave of momentum, unbeaten after the first seven games of their league campaign and coming off the back of a rare win over Liverpool, albeit in controversial fashion.

With Manchester City travelling to the Emirates to face Arsenal on Sunday, Tottenham have a fantastic chance to head into the international break top of the Premier League should they beat the Hatters.

Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King has spoken to Tottenham News and offered his predicted starting line-up for the clash with Luton Town.

King would retain faith in Richarlison and go with an unchanged squad from the team which beat Liverpool 2-1 last time out when Tottenham face Luton Town on Saturday.

“All I am going to say is if everyone is fit it has to be the same team that played against Liverpool. I am confident it should be the same team, when you have had a result and performance like that, why change it?

“They only play one game a week. How would you improve the team, you have just played Liverpool and beaten them, you’re going to Luton, take the same team.”

However, there will be wholesale changes when it comes to the bench. Postecoglou confirmed during his pre-match press conference that Bryan Gil and Giovani Lo Celso have both been training this week, in quotes reported by Football London (6 October).

Although King would not be tempted to bring the more natural left-sided forward Gil into the side in place of Richarlison.

“I would start Richarlison without any shadow of a doubt – as I have said, why change a winning team?

“When was the last time Gil played? If he is going to be used, he should come on for 10-15 minutes, bring him in and put him on the bench, let him get a feel for it again, but I would start with exactly the same team.”

In other Tottenham news, King has detailed how Spurs can leave Kenilworth Road with the three points.
