Wayne Rooney reacts to Postecoglou sack development at Tottenham

Wayne Rooney wants Ange Postecoglou to keep his Tottenham job despite their poor form this season.

At the moment, Spurs are 15th in the Premier League and don’t look to be making any progress to get back into the top 10 spots.

The Australian’s team has been massively hindered by the amount of injuries they’ve suffered this season and Rooney believes that without them, they’d be doing much better.

“I hope he survives, I like him, I just like his demeanour,” he said on The Overlap Podcast (30 January, 23:00).

“With Ange, how honest he is and sometimes we had it with [Louis] Van Gaal, Van Gaal used to do it and sometimes you can be too honest and I think sometimes that comes back to kill you.

“With Ange I think the injuries they’ve had, have killed him.”

Tottenham could stick with Ange Postecoglou this season

While the vast majority of Tottenham fans want to see the back of both Postecoglou and Daniel Levy, it feels like it’s highly unlikely that the Australian will be relieved of his duties.

There have, of course, been numerous different names linked with taking over the Tottenham hot seat but due to the sheer number of injuries the North London outfit have suffered, it feels like Levy is cutting him some slack.

However, if the duo don’t come together and bring in some new faces before the 3 February deadline, it’s hard to see how they’re going to get any further in the league than where they currently sit.

Granted, Antonin Kinsky was brought in near the start of the winter window but aside from the ‘keeper, no other players have been added to their ranks.

Mathys Tel and Tyler Dibling are among the names who have been linked with a move but unless Tottenham get themselves into gear soon, they could end up with no new outfield additions, which, to be quite frank, would be suicide.

In other Tottenham news, Daniel Levy could end up making a decision about Spurs that would reflect rather poorly on him.
