Watch Tottenham takeover as Spurs shirts fill MLS stands in Son Heung-min’s latest show

Son Heung-min is enjoying his time over in the United States after leaving Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Son brought an end to his decade-long spell in North London as he left Tottenham for LAFC in a £20million deal.

The South Korean’s legacy as a Lilywhite was secured after Spurs defeated Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final in May, achieving what Harry Kane couldn’t in leading the club to a trophy.

Son helped earn LAFC a draw in his debut against Chicago Fire by winning a penalty, and he’s contributed again in his first start for his new side.

Tottenham shirts flood stands as Son assists in LAFC win

The Black and Gold ended their poor run of form with a comfortable 2-0 victory over New England Revolution.

Son laid on an assist for Mathieu Choiniere in the fourth minute of stoppage to seal the victory after Mark Delgado put LAFC in front just after half-time.

In his post-match interview, the South Korean described his delight at being in America at the moment, saying: “I’m enjoying every single minute”.

However, after the interview, the camera pans to the stands, with several fans spotted in Tottenham shirts in support of the South Korea captain.

Son’s move could help Spurs commercially

It is well known that Son’s time at Spurs brought support from the forward’s native South Korea, as he is celebrated with high regard in his home country.

It is very common that clubs will sign players from lesser-known countries to export their brand overseas, with another great example including Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah with Egypt.

Tottenham’s financial report for the 2023/24 season

According to the Swiss Ramble, Tottenham registered a financial loss in 2023/24, largely due to having no European football.

However, they need to maintain a presence beyond England commercially to remain sustainable.

Son’s move to the United States could help bring brand exposure across the pond and, in turn, help increase Spurs shirt and merchandise sales in America.
