Warnock furious over ‘shocking’ Tottenham and UEFA development
Stephen Warnock has been left fuming as Tottenham prepare for the Europa League final.
The Lilywhites have had a dreadful season, but have the chance to end in dream fashion with a first trophy in over 17 years.
Now, Ange Postecoglou’s side are waiting for a trip to Bilbao to face Manchester United with a place in the Champions League on the line.
It will certainly be a tense night for everyone associated with Spurs, but Warnock has voiced his frustration ahead of the clash in Spain.

Warnock rages ahead of Tottenham v Manchester United
There is no hiding from the fact that it has been a terrible year for the North London club after narrowly missing out on the top four last season to Aston Villa.
This has seen injuries play a huge role on the downfall in N17 with Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero missing large spells of the campaign.
As a result, the slip down the table has been expected, although having a Europa League final to play while sitting 17th is a shock.
Position | Club | Games played | Goal difference | Points |
16. | Manchester United | 36 | -11 | 39 |
17. | Tottenham | 36 | +4 | 38 |
18. | Ipswich Town | 36 | -42 | 22 |
This is also the case at Old Trafford, as Ruben Amorim has failed to turn the tide for the Red Devils while also reaching the final.
It is fair to say that this has left former Liverpool defender Warnock with a sour taste in his mouth while speaking to Casino Apps (14 May).
He said: “Tottenham and Manchester United have lost 37 Premier League games between them, and it’s shocking to think one of them will be playing in the Champions League next year
“It’s not a great look – it shows the quality of the Europa League has worsened since they’ve stopped teams dropping down from the Champions League if they’re knocked out.
“Naturally, the competition is now weaker and more diluted when it comes to the quality of teams, but I understand not wanting a team to be knocked out of one European competition and going straight into another.”

Tottenham can’t allow UEFA change
It does feel slightly unfair that there is a general feeling that the Europa League winners shouldn’t get Champions League qualification now that Tottenham are in the final.
Although the argument of finishing 17th in the Premier League is a fair argument, that is almost the exact reason why the prize exists.
Daniel Levy and Co. can’t allow this uproar to make a difference to the rules as the Lilywhites attempt to win the trophy.
With no James Maddison, it may not be easy, but a spot in Europe’s elite division can’t be passed on at this stage in the campaign.
