Tottenham will ‘win the Europa League’ as Jeff Stelling reacts live on air

Gabby Agbonlahor believes Tottenham could still win the Europa League this season despite the poor form they’ve shown.

Their recent performances have left a lot to be desired with Ange Postecoglou’s men now finding themselves knocked out of the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup after defeat to Liverpool and a 2-1 loss to Aston Villa on Sunday.

Indeed, they’re still in the Europa League after finishing in the top eight of the league phase, which, with the amount of injuries they’ve suffered, is fairly impressive on their behalf.

Seen as though Spurs are still in the competition, Agbonlahor believes they could have what it takes to bring the trophy back to North London.

Tottenham need to win the Europa League this season

Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham has been brought into question on multiple occasions this season.

However, due to the sheer amount of injuries they’ve suffered, it’s felt like the Australian has been given some slack by Daniel Levy.

Despite the amount of defeats they’ve been put through this term, Agbonlahor believes it would be a Spurs thing to do if they were to win the Europa League at the end of the campaign.

“That’ll be the Spurs thing wouldn’t it, they’ll probably go and win the Europa League now,” Agbonlahor said live on talkSPORT (10 February, 06:27am).

“The teams in the Europa League, they’re not great.”

Jeff Stelling then replied: “I tell you what, they’ll play Galatasaray or Real Sociedad in all likelihood and neither of those two sides are going to be quaking in their boots about playing Tottenham, that’s for sure.”

Ange Postecoglou needs to find a way to turn things around

Injuries have had an awful lot to do with Spurs’ torrid performances this season but if they still want it to be a success, the only way for them to do that is by winning the Europa League.

At the moment, even though fans believe sacking Postecoglou would be the best course of action, it seems that Levy has made his mind up and is likely to keep him.

Key players such as Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero have both been out for extended periods, and, when your star players such as Son Heung-min are performing well below par, it’s just a recipe for disaster.

If the former Celtic boss wants to get fans back on his side, it feels like a lot more needs to come.

However, one thing is for sure, if he does get Spurs knocked out of the Europa League, there’s no way Levy could justify keeping him on.
