Tottenham v Tamworth postponement latest after Met Office update

Tottenham travel to face Tamworth in the FA Cup on Sunday and the clash looks set to be on after the latest Met Office update.

Spurs are preparing for a trip to face the National League side but may have had fears of a potential postponement.

The Met Office has reported that temperatures in Staffordshire will drop as low as minus one in the early hours of Sunday (12 January) but could reach as high as four degrees before kick-off.

With this update and the fact that Tamworth’s Lamb Ground has an artificial pitch, there is little risk that this cup clash will be postponed due to a frozen pitch.

This latest update will come as a boost for Ange Postecoglou’s side, who will be keen to build some momentum after a win against Liverpool.

Lucas Bergvall grabbed a winner against the Premier League leaders and will now travel to face a side who are 16th in the fifth tier of English football.

This won’t be an easy tie in the FA Cup given how the National League side operates and have got to this stage of the competition already.

Tom Tonks’ long throws have already caused problems for EFL opposition and, with the issues that Spurs have had with set-pieces, this could cause problems at the back.

Despite this, the Lilywhites will be confident in their abilities to secure a place in the fourth round but won’t be helped if the clash is cancelled due to poor weather.

It doesn’t appear that the tie is at risk of postponement, but Postecoglou and Co. will certainly be keeping an eye on the forecast in the West Midlands.
