Tottenham v Manchester United: Huge Bergvall update emerges

Tottenham take on Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final with a squad that has been depleted due to injuries.

Ange Postecoglou is under pressure to deliver silverware this season as Spurs find themselves in 17th place in the Premier League.

A victory would not only be a trophy, their first since 2008, but also see them qualify for the Champions League.

Lucas Bergvall spotted travelling with teammates to Bilbao

With the game in San Mames, Bilbao, the Spurs players jetted out on Monday – two days before the final.

There was a lot made about the initial absence of Lucas Bergvall from the video that was released by the club on X.

That is because he has been out with an injury and there have been worries that it could have been a long-term one.

However, it turns out that he was fit enough to travel with the playing squad so he could very well be in contention.

Postecoglou or Tottenham have not yet confirmed or denied whether or not he will be available and fans could find out on Tuesday during his press conference.

Tottenham fans must lower expectations of Bergvall’s involvement

Even if Bergvall is declared fit for Tottenham’s Europa League final against Manchester United, he’s unlikely to be at 100 per cent, potentially disappointing fans hoping for a starting role.

The Sweden international, sidelined since the end of April with a significant ankle ligament injury sustained in training, has missed crucial matches, including the semi-final against Bodo/Glimt.

Despite rumours of a possible return, his absence means he’d lack match sharpness.

Postecoglou confirmed the injury’s severity, almost ruling him out for the season initially, and even a last-minute recovery would limit his involvement.

At best, the 19-year-old might manage 45 minutes as a substitute, as his fitness wouldn’t be fully restored after such a layoff, tempering expectations for a full return in this high-stakes final.
