Tottenham told to make behind-the-scenes changes in new Postecoglou sack verdict
Tottenham and injuries have come hand-in-hand with one another this season.
Ange Postecoglou’s men have been on the receiving end of what feels like most of the Premier League’s injuries for the season.
Players such as Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero have both been sidelined for extended periods and, even when they’ve returned they’ve only been available for one or two games.
Other areas of Spurs’ team have also been affected with their strikeforce also taking a significant blow in regarding who’s the correct person to lead the attacking line.
Which is also why it isn’t a surprise to see people questioning what’s gone wrong in North London this season.
Brad Friedel ponders behind-the-scenes question at Tottenham
Since the season kicked off Tottenham have found themselves on the backfoot with fans often calling for the head of Postecoglou.
However, former Tottenham goalkeeper Brad Friedel believes the Australian should be cut some slack and instead, questions should be asked about what’s going on behind the scenes.
“The thing I would be looking at is why all these injuries are being caused,” he said on the BBC’s Football News Show (8 February).
“Is it down to dumb luck and bad luck, is it something to do with the trainers, is it something to do with the medical department, is it something to do with the performance department?
“I would look at those things, I think with all the players missing I think it would be really harsh to part ways with Postecoglou.
“I think most managers would find it very difficult to win games with the amount of injuries they’ve sustained.”
Spurs could do with looking at changing some of their behind-the-scenes staff members
Even though chopping and changing things such as Tottenham’s medical team and training coaches may not make a difference to the sheer amount they’re sustaining, it feels like it’s one of the last options Daniel Levy has.
It feels like it’s been made abundantly clear that Postecoglou isn’t going to be relieved of his duties any time soon because if Levy did have any managerial changes in mind, he’d have already relieved the former Celtic boss of his duties.
The amount of injuries that Tottenham have had to contend with this season feels abnormal and it has very clearly affected the way their team have played this season.

Because, even though the tactical choices and the way that the team lines up is down to the Australian, it feels like there should be things in place to stop players such as Van De Ven from returning before they’re ready.
This season alone, a fair few of Spurs’ players have been thrown back into first-team action way before they were told to.
On paper, it feels like the back-room staff at the club have a lot to do with those choices that have been made, because, without them saying players are ready and raring to go, it feels unlikely that Postecoglou would risk his star men any more than what he needs to.
