Tottenham told to ‘hire Andoni Iraola’ after £10m Bournemouth exit development
Emile Heskey has urged Tottenham to replace Ange Postecoglou with Andoni Iraola.
Postecoglou appears to be on thin ice in North London, with former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp recently sharing a “serious” sack claim about the Australian.
Daniel Levy is expected to make a decision on Postecoglou’s future after the second leg of Spurs’ Carabao Cup semi-final clash with Liverpool at Anfield on Thursday 6 February, and Heskey isn’t optimistic about the 59-year-old’s long-term hopes.
The former England striker said [via Instant Casino, 24 January], “I can’t see [Ange] Postecoglou being at Tottenham next season. They’re in a poor run of form and it’s a difficult one for both the owners and the board. I believe they like him, but the performances and results on the pitch really don’t look good.
“Finding a long-term replacement for him at this point in the season will be difficult so I think they will stick with him, but it’s tough to imagine Ange in the dugout at the start of next season.
“As far as replacements go, I really like Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola. He’s doing some great work there; however, you are going from a club like Bournemouth where there is no real pressure other than staying in the league, to a club where the expectations are super high, and they must be met.”
Tottenham to replace Ange Postecoglou with Andoni Iraola?
On paper, replacing Postecoglou with Iraola could be a good move.
The Bournemouth boss has impressed with his work at the Vitality Stadium and has the Cherries flying high in the Premier League. However, if Spurs want to bring him in, they’re going to need to spend money – something which Levy doesn’t usually like to do.
Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King recently revealed exclusively to Tottenham News that a £10million compensation fee would be needed to get Iraola out of his Bournemouth contract.

Therefore, if Spurs do sack Postecoglou, it will be interesting to see if Levy decides to pay up.
