Tottenham told to forfeit Newcastle game after insane development

Tottenham supporters want to forfeit the clash against Newcastle United on Saturday after news of illness spreading through the squad.

Spurs are set to face Eddie Howe’s in-form side on 4 January but could be set to do so without multiple key players.

Ange Postecoglou revealed in his press conference on 3 January that “an illness bug is running through the squad”, which saw multiple players miss training.

Spurs ITK hub on X has since reported [3 January] that Fraser Forster, Radu Dragusin, Archie Gray and James Maddison were the ones missing.

That has not been confirmed, but nonetheless, some supporters have urged Spurs to “forfeit the next game” as the high-profile absentees look set to pile up.

Tottenham fans urge Newcastle forfeit after illness development

One supporter has described the situation as “insane”, which is fair given the sheer amount of players that Postecoglou will be without for the North London visit of the North East club.

Many have demanded that the Lilywhites opt out of the clash, with one suggesting: “We can postpone. Other teams have for illness”.

If Spurs are to go ahead with the game, a fan has suggested that the Magpies will once again secure a 6-1 win, as they did two years ago.

In a similar vein, another supporter believes Postecoglou and Co. will get “embarrassed” if the game isn’t called off in another six-goal confession.

Looking ahead to the clash in North London, it is believed that Spurs’ defending will be “comical”, with one fan hoping that this news is nothing more than a joke.

That doesn’t appear to be the case and the N17 club looks to be in real trouble in terms of personnel which could result in a sobering result.

Given the pressure that Postecoglou is under, a thrashing against Newcastle with a weakened squad could prove to be the final blow in the sack race.

In other Tottenham news, one player has spoken out about Postecoglou in a new interview after a sack claim was made.
