Tottenham to ‘change leader now’ as Daniel Levy exit admission emerges

Tottenham have had a disastrous season, and there’s plenty of blame to be shared.

The Lilywhites sit 17th in the Premier League table, having lost 20 league games this season, a statistic which could be the final nail in Ange Postecoglou’s coffin.

Although the Australian has led his side to the Europa League final to take on Manchester United, there are suggestions that even a trophy would not be enough to save the boss’ future.

While supporters are mostly fed up with the manager, Daniel Levy has come under plenty of criticism too for his lack of financial support contributing to the struggles in north London.

Simon Jordan urges Levy to sell Tottenham

Although Tottenham are in a fairly sustainable position as a club, this season has served as a reminder that playing it too safe upstairs can have monumental impacts.

The Lilywhites have struggled with injuries, which is not Levy’s fault, but there certainly wasn’t too much for Postecoglou to bring in reinforcements during the winter transfer window.

It now seems likely that Postecoglou will be exiting the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at the end of the campaign, with a Europa League win seen as an opportunity to go out on a high.

However, there is apathy in north London, with the feeling that while Levy continues to run the club in the way he has been doing so far, positive change on the field will be limited.

Speaking live on talkSPORT (13 May, 12:57pm), Simon Jordan admitted Levy may have reached the end of the road with any growth limited now.

The former Crystal Palace owner said: “I think Daniel has built a magnificent spaceship, I really do. I think there may well be needing a change of captain.

“Not because Levy isn’t capable, because where’s the cash coming from? Even Stefan has now come round to my way of thinking, it doesn’t matter what PSR does with Tottenham. If you haven’t got the cash, then how are you going to do it?

“Daniel has never professed to being a billionaire or to having the cash himself. His worth is in Tottenham, and when someone comes and buys Tottenham, then Daniel will be very wealthy as a result of it.”

Levy needs to change things at Tottenham

Levy has shown signs that he may recognise that change is needed at Tottenham, having admitted he is seeking outside investment.

The chief has also made new appointments upstairs at Tottenham, suggesting he is prepared to give up some of his power for the greater success of the club.

However, if change fails to come about from stronger decision making and potentially more money being spent, then a change will be needed otherwise, this will just be the start of more misery that’s to come.

Tottenham fans have had little to smile about this season.

As Jordan points out, Tottenham is what makes Levy a wealthy man and he is not often keen to part ways with cash, but rather continues to seek new ways to bring it in.

There’s a balance to be struck, but Levy seems to be far too far one way and that is at the detriment of his side on the football pitch.
