Tottenham to announce exit in next 24 hours, Sunderland game will be his last at club
Tottenham are at the beginning of what is a vital month of January for the club.
Spurs’ 0-0 draw with Brentford last time out marked another frustrating afternoon for Thomas Frank‘s team, who are looking to get back in the race for European football for next season.
Tottenham are seven points behind fourth-placed Liverpool, but are just four behind Chelsea in fifth, and so there is a big opportunity to swiftly close that gap if they can start putting more consistent wins on the board.
As such, Tottenham are expected to be busy in the transfer market this month, with the Lilywhites already set for a £30million cash injection from the imminent sale of Brennan Johnson.
Tottenham about to officially lose Fabio Paratici
Tottenham host Sunderland in the Premier League on Sunday, and for Spurs’ sporting director Fabio Paratici, it looks set to be his last game involved with the club.
Paratici has been strongly linked with a move to Fiorentina for a number of weeks now, with the Italian having joined Spurs back in the summer of 2021.
However, as per a fresh report from Corriere dello Sport, the 53-year-old will leave Tottenham in the coming hours in order to become Fiorentina’s new director.
The report states that Paratici will likely be in Florence on Monday to complete his move to the Italian club, with Spurs’ clash with Sunderland being his final match in his role at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Manor Solomon has officially arrived at Fiorentina, too, which doesn’t appear to be a coincidence in regards to Paratici’s imminent switch to the club either.

Paratici exit isn’t ideal start to January for Tottenham or Thomas Frank
Losing a key figure such as your sporting director a matter of days into a crucial winter transfer window is far from ideal for any club, let alone one with the expectation and scrutiny surrounding them as Tottenham have.
It’s particularly unhelpful for Frank too, as he is under major pressure in North London to prove he is the man to take Spurs forward into the future, after what has so far been an inconsistent debut campaign for him in charge.
- Tottenham have won just eight of their 26 points at home this season
- Paratici initially resigned from Tottenham in April 2023 after losing an appeal in Italy against a 30-month ban from football for financial irregularities with his former club Juventus
- Paratici returned to his role as Spurs’ sporting director in October 2025
Frank needs as many people on his side and working to improve his squad as possible, and so seeing Paratici go will naturally be a major blow to his and Tottenham’s transfer planning and general stability.
However, it must be shrugged off quickly, as neither Frank nor Spurs will be afforded any excuses by supporters if they don’t get it right both on and off the field this month.
