Tottenham three-man shortlist revealed post Postecoglou sack

Tottenham now have a three-man shortlist ready as Ange Postecoglou has been sacked.

Despite winning the Europa League by beating Manchester United in the final, the Spurs hierarchy decided that it was time to part ways with the Australian.

Daniel Levy consulted with the owners and eventually the club confirmed that he will not be the manager for next season.

Andoni Iraola among three names considered by Spurs

According to Give Me Sport journalist Ben Jacobs, Andoni Iraola is appreciated by the Tottenham hierarchy.

However, Bournemouth are still hoping that he commits his future to them and does not leave for the North London side.

Along with him, Brentford boss Thomas Frank is also on the list and is the favourite, as things stand.

Fulham manager Marco Silva is another name being considered by the hierarchy as they aim to find a permanent appointment for Postecoglou.

Despite the season ending nearly two weeks ago, Spurs waited until Friday, 6 June, to officially announce his departure.

Tottenham must look to finalise Iraola’s appointment

Iraola stands out as the ideal candidate to replace Postecoglou at Tottenham, surpassing Silva and Frank due to his dynamic tactical approach and proven adaptability.

His high-pressing, attack-minded 4-2-3-1 system at Bournemouth, which led to a top-half Premier League finish in 2024-25, aligns seamlessly with Spurs’ ambition for entertaining, progressive football.

His ability to transform Bournemouth’s limited squad into a cohesive unit highlights his knack for maximising player potential, a crucial trait for Tottenham’s talented but inconsistent squad.

Unlike Silva, whose Fulham side excels but lacks the intensity to compete at the top, Iraola’s Bournemouth consistently outworked opponents, evidenced by their high possession and pressing stats.

Frank’s Brentford, while tactically astute, lean on a pragmatic, counter-attacking style that may not suit Tottenham’s fanbase, craving flair.

Iraola’s experience in La Liga with Rayo Vallecano adds versatility, equipping him to handle Champions League pressures.

His youth (42) and hunger for success contrast with Silva’s cautious approach and Frank’s smaller-club focus, making Iraola the perfect fit to elevate Tottenham’s attacking identity and challenge for silverware.
