Tottenham star Djed Spence tells Rio Ferdinand who he really wants to play for
Djed Spence has been dazzling for Tottenham this season as one of the few bright sparks but he already has his eyes on a grander stage.
The 24-year-old has spent the majority of the season playing out of position at left-back due to the injury-plagued campaign Tottenham are dealing with, yet he’s proven his versatility by delivering high-quality performances.
After spending the start of the season on the outskirts of Ange Postecoglou’s team he has grown his importance in the squad to the point Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham believes Spence is “easily worth £30million-plus”.
Wenham also exclusively told Tottenham Hotspur News that he “wouldn’t be surprised” if another contract extension is being lined up for him until 2030 or 2031.

Djed Spence wants to be an international star
Spence has firmly established himself as one of the first names on Postecoglou’s team sheet, but he’s not prepared to settle for that as he revealed his ultimate aspirations to Rio Ferdinand.
Spence spoke to Rio Presents (24 March) and said, “I just want to keep establishing myself, play for my country as well that’s another thing that I want to do. To achieve that I’ve just got to keep improving and stay focused.”

There is no shortage of competition in the Three Lions squad at full-back, and Spence revealed an England legend and former Spurs ace has been an idol for him.
Spence added, “I always looked at Kyle Walker to be fair, what a player, phenomenal player what he’s done in the game, for me the best right back in Premier League history.”

Tottenham’s rising star will want to gain Thomas Tuchel’s attention
Thomas Tuchel opted to snub Spence when announcing his first England squad, giving Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly a chance instead – something he rewarded him with by scoring against Albania.
The decision not to include Spence at all came as a surprise to many, but the versatile full-back has now made it publicly clear that it’s something he’s aspiring to achieve.
However, TV commentator Ian Darke exclusively told Tottenham News that Spence is “getting England mentions,” which could hint at a call-up coming sooner than later if his standards remain the same.
