Tottenham sack: Ange Postecoglou relationship with Daniel Levy shared today

Ange Postecglou has more goodwill for his relationship with Daniel Levy than previous Tottenham managers, says Katherine Lucas.

Spurs suffered yet another Premier League defeat on Saturday 4 January, losing 2-1 against Newcastle United despite Dominic Solanke’s early opener.

This could see even further pressure build on Postecoglou in North London but The I Paper journalist Lucas has suggested that the Australian has credit in the bank with the Lilywhites’ chairman.

She said: “The notable difference is that Postecoglou retains enough goodwill for his relationship with Daniel Levy not to have broken down.

“Antonio Conte, Jose Mourinho and Harry Redknapp all left after a point of no return in that respect.”

Ange Postecoglou in positive Daniel Levy relationship at Tottenham

It is a frustrating time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium right now which doesn’t feel like has any end right now.

Although results have been poor in recent weeks, there have been injury, illness and suspension issues which have had a damaging effect.

This may ultimately hand Postecoglou a boost in his attempts to keep his job in North London despite growing unrest.

In the end, the decision will come down to Levy who will have the final call regardless of what supporters are saying in and around N17.

If the chairman has this positive relationship with the former Celtic boss, he may prove to be reluctant to pull the sack trigger and move the manager on so soon.

This could see the Australian remain in the Spurs dugout for weeks to come regardless of results which may begin to grate on fans if a change isn’t seen on the pitch.
