Tottenham receive major injury scare as player sent for scans

Tottenham have received a major injury scare just hours ahead of their clash with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Ange Postecoglou’s side will welcome Frankfurt to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday (10 April) for the first leg of the two clubs’ UEFA Europa League last-eight tie.

Should Spurs be eliminated from Europe, Postecoglou will likely be sacked by Daniel Levy.

However, should his time with Spurs come to an end, the Australian will no doubt feel as though an unprecedented number of injuries this season are to blame, with the Tottenham medical staff called into question.

And ahead of a potentially career-defining match, Postecoglou has been dealt another injury scare.

Tottenham forward sent for scans amid hamstring issue

Spurs have seen more or less each of their first-team players spend some time on the sidelines this season, with Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven both missing the majority of the season, which led to the former aiming a dig at Tottenham.

However, whoever is to blame, it does seem as though hamstring injuries have been a recurring issue for Tottenham during Postecoglou’s time in North London, as yet another concern emerges in this department.

As reported by Spurs insider Paul O Keefe via X (10 April), Wilson Odobert has been sent for scans after complaining of a tightness in his hamstring.

There isn’t yet a definitive answer on what the issue might be, or if there is one at all. However, this scare is the last thing Postecoglou needed heading into the clash with Frankfurt.

Brennan Johnson must step up against Frankfurt

After this latest news, Odobert is unlikely to feature against Frankfurt.

The Frenchman has missed the majority of his debut season at Tottenham after previously suffering a hamstring injury. Therefore, this is a concerning bit of news for supporters in North London.

However, for now, the focus must be on the clash with Frankfurt, and Johnson needs to step up with the Welshman now incredibly likely to keep his place after scoring twice in the 3-1 Premier League win over Southampton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (6 April).
