Tottenham players now expect Postecoglou sack as possible replacement named

Ange Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham remains the talk of the town despite the Europa League triumph.

The Australian manager etched himself into Tottenham folklore by guiding the club to its first European trophy in 41 years.

Daniel Levy was on the podium, joyfully presenting the players and the man he hired to lead the squad with a medal as they walked towards the trophy presentation.

The historic night’s celebrations briefly distracted from the difficulties of this season. However, the dust is now settling, with the players once again focusing on the uncertainty surrounding Postecoglou.

Marco Silva maintains Levy’s interest

Levy has rarely made a decision on Tottenham based on emotion, which is unlikely to waver on the back of Wednesday night’s triumph.

The players will be on cloud nine, gearing up for the trophy parade, but they know that their poor league results remain in the backdrop.

They will be acutely aware that the club has been sounding out options to take the club forward, with the Daily Mail (22 May) reporting that Marco Silva is a frontrunner.

The report adds that the players expect Postecoglou to get sacked, despite his Europa League success.

Fulham have had another promising campaign, sitting 16 points ahead of Spurs despite having a significantly lower wage and transfer budget.

The Portuguese manager has gained lots of admirers for his ability to re-invent the Cottagers’ style of play year on year after losing key players.

Cristian Romero showed his worth in the final, but with high-profile players like him rumoured to leave, Silva’s adaptability becomes even more valuable.

His vast Premier League experience, previously with Everton and Hull City, is also thought to be an asset that Levy has highlighted as important for the next manager.

Postecoglou still excited by Tottenham project

Postecoglou admitted after the Europa League final that his time in North London has been the most challenging of his career thus far, yet he remains keen to see his project through.

The transfer policy during his tenure has focused on bringing in young players, with the Australian believing that the club will reap the rewards in the coming years.

With the opportunity to take on Europe’s best in the Champions League next season, Postecoglou will look to fight for his right to take Tottenham to the next level.
