Tottenham players hide behind Daniel Levy in ‘Shocking’ new reveal
Tottenham players have been accused of using behind Daniel Levy after the 4-0 loss to Liverpool on Thursday.
Spurs were hammered at Anfield (6 February) giving up their 1-0 advantage from the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final in the process.
The Lilywhites failed to record a shot on target in the contest, which Jamie O’Hara labelled as a “sackable offence” after the contest. [talkSPORT]
Ange Postecoglou‘s charges will look to get back to winning ways and back on the hunt for a trophy in the FA Cup fourth-round clash with Aston Villa (9 February).
Daniel Levy claim ‘shocking’ at Tottenham
Former Arsenal man Paul Merson feels like the Lilywhites players were hiding behind the manager and the ownership in the defeat.
Speaking on Sky Sports (8 February, 12:44), Merson said: “There was some experienced players out there, there was a lot of caps out there.
“For me, it was not good enough, it was like ‘if we get beat it will be down to Ange and it will be down to Levy.’
“I thought it was shocking, there are ways of losing, everybody loses football matches whoever you may be but this is the semi-final, dig in.”

Tottenham players need to step up
While pressure builds on Postecoglou, the former Celtic man needs his players to step up and fire Spurs out of the mess that they are in at the moment.
The Lilywhites sit 14th in the Premier League after an underwhelming campaign that has seen them lose 13 matches in the competition so far.
If they had made it through to the Carabao Cup final, the scrutiny on the Australian may have been reduced with Spurs having the chance to win a first trophy since 2008.
However, they failed to do that and Postecoglou will need to kickstart an FA Cup run with a victory against the Villans on Sunday.
Levy and the board must take some responsibility for the chaos at the North London club right now given that they have consistently failed to back Postecoglou.
In the summer, Dominic Solanke was the only major incoming and the N17 outfit waited until the final few days of the winter to bring in Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel in the winter transfer window.
Postecoglou has had to contend with a major injury crisis this campaign and waiting until the deadline approached to make moves was negligible.
However, they cannot make any more signings now, so the Australian will have to rely on the players at his disposal to get Spurs out of their current predicament.
If they fail to do so, he may pay with his job.
