Tottenham next manager: Silva odds crash after Postecoglou sack twist

Marco Silva seems increasingly likely to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.

The Australian is clinging on to his spot in the dugout with Spurs languishing in 16th place in the Premier League after the 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest (21 April).

The only chance for success is the Europa League but the former Celtic man could be on his way out even if he ends the 17-year trophy drought after the latest update.

Silva odds slashed after Postecoglou exit news

Postecoglou is expected to leave Tottenham even if he guides the Lilywhites to success in Europe after a dismal domestic campaign.

The Fulham boss, Silva, has been touted as a contender to replace the Australian in North London if he departs and has an £8million release clause in his Fulham contract.

The Portuguese manager has now emerged as the frontrunner with Bet 365 slashing the odds on his chances of replacing the ex-Celtic man.

Silva is 3/1 to become the next permanent Spurs manager, ahead of the likes of Mauricio Pochettino at 9/2, Thomas Frank at 11/2 and Andoni Iraola at 6/1.

Tottenham should take a chance on Silva

Silva has proved that he is a top-class manager this season as he has his side in the mix for European qualification.

His team have earned several notable results this season, with the 3-2 win over runaway league leaders Liverpool (6 April) being a particular highlight.

It seems like Silva has found a new level since his poor stint at Everton and he is exactly the type of up-and-coming boss that the Lilywhites need.

If they appoint the Portuguese manager, he will need to backed in the transfer window as the squad is in desperate need of an overhaul but he has shown his ability to build a squad across London.

Whether Silva is the man to change the toxic atmosphere in N17 remains to be seen but Postecoglou has to go if Daniel Levy is serious about changing the club for the better.

He is set to lead Spurs to their worst-ever Premier League finish and even if he guides them to a trophy, that is not good enough, it is as simple as that.
