Tottenham next manager: ‘Major Andoni Iraola development days away’
Andoni Iraola is the frontrunner for the Tottenham job if Ange Postecoglou is sacked, but a new development could be just days away.
The Australian is clinging on to his position at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with the Europa League representing the only chance of success for Spurs.
If Spurs fail to win that competition, there is every chance that Daniel Levy will decide to relieve Postecoglou of his duties in North London.
However, any attempts to appoint Iraola may be hampered by a new development on the South Coast.

Iraola set for new deal at Bournemouth
Iraola has impressed since moving to the Vitality stadium and is set to be offered a new deal to ward off Tottenham’s interest.
The Daily Star reports in its print edition [16 March, page 44] that the former Rayo Vallecano manager is set to talk with Cherries owner Bill Foley in the coming days about summer recruitment.
It also states that talks about the 42-year-old’s future will also be on the cards and the owner is optimistic that he can persuade Iraola to stay in what can be considered a blow for Tottenham.

Tottenham need to go all out for Iraola if Postecoglou is sacked
If Tottenham sack Postecoglou after a dismal sophomore season, they should do everything that they can to appoint Iraola.
While the Australian has had to deal with a brutal injury crisis, his squad selection and intense training regime have not helped the situation and may even have aggravated it.
Stats (Premier League 2024/25) | Postecoglou | Iraola |
Wins | 10 | 13 |
Draws | 4 | 8 |
Losses | 14 | 9 |
Points | 34 | 47 |
Points per match | 1.21 | 1.57 |
Despite that, the squad is still good enough to compete for European qualification, and the position that Spurs find themselves in domestically is not good enough for a club of the Lilywhites’ stature.
Meanwhile, Iraola is one of the hottest properties in the English game at the moment and has Bournemouth on the verge of qualifying for Europe in his second season at the club.
However, appointing him would not solve all of Spurs’ woes as a lot of them involve the ownership, specifically Levy, who has the subject of various protests from supporters.
If Postecoglou fails to turn the tide and results continue to underwhelm, the Spaniard represents an exciting and very capable replacement.
