Tottenham new manager: Sean Dyche emerges as shock contender after Everton upset
Sean Dyche has emerged as a shock contender to replace Ange Postecoglou after Tottenham slipped up to Everton on Sunday, according to the bookmakers.
The Australian has been under immense pressure to turn things around at Hotspur Way, with talks already being held with Massimiliano Allegri over the manager job [Corriere Dello Sport].
With Spurs’ relegation odds dropping to 50/1 from 250/1 in just a matter of hours, as per Bet365, Dyche’s odds of being appointed as Postecoglou’s successor have emerged at 33/1 in a shock twist [Betvictor].
Given the 53-year-old sacking from Goodison Park just 11 days ago, the new link is made all the more shocking following the Lilywhites’ unbelievable 3-2 defeat to the Toffees on 19 January.
Sean Dyche emerges as shock Tottenham manager contender
While Spurs are eight points above the relegation zone, only two teams separate Postecoglou’s side from 18th-place Ipswich Town – Everton and Wolves.
This is, without a doubt, totally unacceptable for a team like Spurs, a run of form that has seen Daniel Levy tipped to pull the trigger on the current manager’s job in North London.
Something needs to change at Hotspur Way, and quickly, but appointing someone like Dyche who was unable to keep his role at Goodison Park would send the passionate supporters crazy.
Dyche won just 28 per cent of his Premier League matches in charge of the Toffees, and comparing that to Postecoglou’s 45 per cent win rate, this potential move would be seen as a huge step back.

Given the other names being linked with the Lilywhites, Levy would be absolutely crucified if he were to hire the out-of-work manager, even more so than he already is for his lack of recruitment.
Of course, the lack of recruitment has meant Postecoglou struggling with an insane number of crucial injuries, but that cannot be used as an excuse for every loss, especially not against the Toffees.
