Tottenham new manager: ‘Miracle-working’ boss top of the list to replace Postecoglou

Ange Postecoglou has had a torrid time as Tottenham manager this season.

Spurs currently sit 12th in the Premier League table and are only three points in front of 16th-placed West Ham United.

So, it comes as no surprise that the future of the Australian has been consistently discussed with multiple managers from across the world being linked with taking over at Tottenham.

And, a new update from talkSPORT has shared that a “miracle-working gaffer” could now be in line to take over from the former Celtic boss.

Andoni Iraola is at the top of Tottenham’s shortlist

Numerous candidates have already been linked with a switch to North London since the start of the season and although Daniel Levy has stuck by his manager, if things don’t improve soon, it’s hard to see how his stay could be justified.

Andoni Iraola has been one of the main men linked with the Spurs managerial role and now talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook has shared his latest information on the situation via talkSPORT’s website (18 February).

“Then there is miracle-working gaffer Iraola, who talkSPORT understands would be at the top of Tottenham’s list if they parted company with Ange Postecoglou, who is under pressure with Spurs down in 12th,” Crook wrote.

“With Iraola preferring to sign short-term deals and only contracted until the end of next season that could leave Bournemouth vulnerable, although sources close to the Spaniard say he is happy on the Dorset coast.”

Andoni Iraola would be an impressive coup by Daniel Levy

Bournemouth and Iraola are one of the most interesting cases to have emerged from the Premier League this season.

At the moment, the Cherries sit fifth in the top-flight table are are just one point away from breaking into the Champions League places.

Last term, they finished in 12th and despite losing the likes of Dominic Solanke in the summer transfer window, it feels like the Spaniard has crafted his team into an even more dangerous force.

In terms of on-pitch performance, it doesn’t feel like it would make much sense for Iraola to make the move to Tottenham due to the difference in quality between both teams.

However, the fact that Spurs are likely to have 10 times the resources that Bournemouth do, could be enough to persuade him to make the switch.

Of course, only time will tell what the future holds but if Postecoglou is relieved of his duties, it’s hard to see a better candidate than Iraola to replace him.

Spurs’ goal at the start of the 2024/25 campaign was likely to earn a spot in the Champions League or at least end up fighting for a Europa League place.
