Tottenham new manager: Lopetegui odds reveal after shock sack news

Julen Lopetegui could be a surprise contender for the Tottenham job, according to the latest bookmakers odds.

The Spaniard is expected to be sacked by the Hammers before the FA Cup clash with Aston Villa (10 January) after a disappointing campaign so far (Jason Burt, Sky Sports News).

Ange Postecoglou is under pressure at Spurs after a run of just two wins in 13 matches and Lopetegui is a 33/1 outsider to replace him with Bet Victor.

The favourites to replace the Australian are former Chelsea boss Graham Potter at 4/1 and Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna at 8/1.

Julen Lopetegui will not get Tottenham job

It is unfathomable that the Hammers boss could replace Postecoglou at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It would be a huge error of judgement by Daniel Levy if he were to appoint the former Wolves man and would probably cause riots among the fanbase.

His season with the Irons has been shocking and that alone probably rules him out of the running for a potential opening at Spurs.

Also, the club are backing Postecoglou to turn things around according to David Ornstein (6 January), who claimed that the former Celtic man is “100 per cent safe in his job”.

That is highlighted by the fact that Levy is backing his man in the transfer window with Spurs already active in the market signing a new goalkeeper in Antonin Kinsky.

If they did decide to get rid of the Australian, Lopetegui would be a very poor choice to replace him given the evidence provided this season.
