Tottenham new manager: Fulham react to Marco Silva release clause

Fulham are confident that the release clause in Marco Silva’s contract will deter Tottenham from approaching him if they sack Ange Postecoglou, according to TBR Football.

The online outlet reported (21 January) that the Portuguese manager has an £8million exit clause in his contract with the West London club.

The report claims that the former Everton boss is a contender for the Spurs job if Postecoglou is given his marching orders.

It states that Thomas Frank and Andoni Iraola are also candidates if the former Celtic man is sacked.

Tottenham should stick with Postecoglou for now

Despite a dismal run of form in which his side have won just one Premier League match from their last ten and find themselves 15th in the table, Spurs should stick with the Australian.

Chopping and changing managers every few seasons and paying chunky compensation fees is not a route to success in the modern game.

While Postecoglou deserves criticism for failing to abandon his favoured tactical approach, he has had to deal with a brutal injury crisis.

Guglielmo Vicario, Christian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Destiny Udogie have been out for a significant period and the former Celtic man has not been backed in the winter transfer window.

The Lilywhites’ only incoming is goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, who impressed in the 1-0 EFL Cup semi-final first-leg win against Liverpool.

Daniel Levy needs to give Postecoglou the personnel he needs to implement his philosophy properly or at least give him sufficient squad depth.

In other Tottenham news, the Spurs squad were shocked by what Postecoglou did to a star player.
