Tottenham make ‘discreet’ approach to seal Marco Silva appointment after Frank news

Tottenham are pushing ahead to appoint yet another new manager.

Despite finishing the 17-year wait for a major trophy at Spurs with the Europa League, Ange Postecoglou was sacked by Daniel Levy on Friday.

Thomas Frank is the early frontrunner to take over from Brentford, but after recent news, moves have been made for Fulham boss Marco Silva.

Tottenham make new Silva approach

The Daily Mirror has reported in its print edition (7 June, pg 71) that Spurs have now made “discreet” enquiries for Silva at Fulham.

Bournemouth are still fighting to keep Andoni Iraola, so it appears that it could be a straight shootout between Silva and Frank for the role.

It has been suggested that the Fulham manager would accept a £30million package over three years to take over, despite rejecting more from Saudi clubs already.

With an £8million release clause, too, it would be a very expensive package for Levy.

Frank faces Tottenham outrage

The Spurs dressing room is said to be outraged with the decision to sack Postecoglou, with some even ready to leave over the developments.

It means Frank, or Silva, could face serious unrest from the players if they were to be announced as the next manager at Hotspur Way.

Thomas Frank’s record at Brentford
Games managed 317
Wins 132
Draws77
Losses 108
Win percentage 41.64 per cent
Honours Championship play-off winners
Frank has done an unbelievable job at Brentford

While there are differing reports over both Frank and Silva, it appears as though they are the two managers to choose from.

Levy has sacked Postecoglou, weeks after a huge Europa League success, to chase managers who have won close to nothing at smaller clubs, regardless of how well they’ve done.

The shift in mentality tells you everything you need to know about Tottenham, and it is a worrying time to be a supporter, heading into the Champions League with those at the top having no clue what to do.

It appears as though we are getting closer to an answer. Will it be Frank or Silva?
