Tottenham have made contact with FC Porto to sign striker Medhi Taremi and are readying a £20.7m offer to sign him, according to Sky Sports Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
According to Di Marzio, taking to his personal Twitter account (4 August) reported that Spurs are ready to make their move for the Iranian international, but Porto are asking for £26m to have any chance of letting him go.
The Iranian forward enjoyed a sensational Liga Nos top-flight campaign last term, scoring a stunning 22 goals and registering seven assists from 33 games, after starring for his nation at the World Cup also with 2 goals, scoring one of them against England in the group stages.
The 30-year is sure to attract plenty of interest this summer from elite clubs on the continent, but Tottenham have certainly made their move.

“Tottenham are ready to offer €24m, while Porto are asking for €30m.”
Perfect Harry Kane contingency
With Tottenham preparing to lose star striker Harry Kane to Bayern Munich after the German Bundesliga championed improved their offer to around £87m plus add-ons on Friday (4 August), Spurs will be well within their right to make a move for an ideal replacement.
Porto’s Taremi is the perfect tonic given the remarkable campaign he enjoyed last year but also his stunning abilities in both scoring goals and creating them.

22 goals and seven assists from 33 games is absolutely sensational and points to a striker certainly ready to take the Kane mantle at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
Certainly, no striker can replace Kanes’ qualities, influence, leadership and class but Ange Postecoglou will desperately need a striker capable of fitting in perfectly with his progressive, front-footed system and Taremi represents the perfect tonic.
Taremi is a Champions League-level player as evidenced by his five goals across the six group-stage games for Porto last season, and he will want to replicate that form again next season, playing for an elite European regular.
A further positive of Taremi is how he compares favourably to the aforementioned Kane having scored 31 goals and provided 14 assists in 55 games in all competitions last term, with the Englishman scoring 32 goals in the 2022/23 campaign – albeit while laying on only five assists.
The former Rio Ave man is also remarkably creative also, ranking in the 89th percentile of strikers in Europe’s next eight competitions after the top five leagues for shot-creating actions, 94th percentile for assists and 95th percentile for goal-creating actions per 90 [FBRef].
Postecoglou may well have identified his perfect Kane contingency plan.
In other Tottenham news, it is a big season ahead for one key Spurs attacker after an underwhelming campaign last term.
