Chelsea star Cristopher Nkunku was targeted by Shamrock Rovers fans throwing objects on Thursday, just as Tottenham fans did with Cole Palmer.

The England international was targeted by Spurs fans in the 4-3 defeat on 8 December, with Anthony Taylor told he should have stopped play.

Tottenham were taking on Manchester United in the EFL Cup quarter-finals at the same time as Chelsea took on the Irish club in the Europa Conference League.

He wrote on X: "Shamrock Rovers fans are throwing things/streamers at Nkunku as he tries to take a corner...shades of Tottenham away."

Tottenham incident repeats at Chelsea

This is something that continues to happen in football, with little being done to stop it.

While completely harmless as paper and tape, if the fans started to throw things much worse, serious damage could be caused to the players.

Spurs are currently playing in the Europa League, as Ange Postecoglou looks to deliver a trophy in his second season, something he confesses always happens.

Chelsea may be doing well in the Premier League, but nobody takes much notice of the third-string European competition under the wings of UEFA.

With issues persisting against Chelsea, it may not be long until an official complaint is made and more is done to stop fans of all clubs from partaking in things like this.
